“Chardonnay was the business in the ‘80s,” 2KW’s wine director, Liinaa Berry says.
“It was the golden cup of sunshine, buttery oaky flavours bursting with overripe fruits and honey-water, but people quickly grew tired of it.
World Chardonnay at 2KW
Level 8, 2 King William Street, Adelaide 5000
6:30pm ’til 8pm Thursday, 23 May.
“Thank god ( AKA Bacchus), today we have a contrasting palette to enjoy.”
To thoroughly debunk the pervasive ‘ABC attitude’ (“Anything but Chardonnay,” Liinaa laughs), 2KW is hosting an SA versus WA Chardonnay-off to celebrate this coming World Chardonnay Day, Thursday, 23 May.
Tapanappa from the Adelaide Hills will go head-to-head with Vasse Felix from the Margaret River, both showcasing a vertical of back vintages.
They will all be poured blind, you will taste, and you will pick the winner.
Tickets to 2KW’s World Chardonnay Day event are available here.
